p-APSH.jpgThe facility began construction in 2007 and includes a joint headquarters for the Atlanta Police Department and Atlanta Fire Rescue. In accordance with the City of Atlanta's Greener City Initiative's, the building was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. Several sustainable development principles were implemented in the design and construction process to meet these goals.

 

 

Sustainable Design Features:

  • Over 16% energy consumption reduction
  • Use of drip irrigation and moisture sensors to reduce irrigation water consumption over 50%
  • Implementation of green housekeeping and site management procedures
  • Use of non-chemical water treatment system
  • Installation of white roofing materials to reduce the Urban Heat Island Effect
