Project Overview:
The Charliet Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield, Ga. serves as a natural resources training center for children and adults. The primary buildings include the Visitor's Center, Adult Lodge, Commons Building and the feature building, the Banquet Hall, which is the primary location for meetings, dining and educational opportunities.
The banqeut hall features natural light, expansive views and a massive stone fireplace adjoining a 2,500-square-foot deck. It was awarded the Leadership in Engery and Environmental Design (LEED®) - NC Silver certification in 2005.
Sustainable Design Features:
- Natural views obtained through abundant glass and glazing
- No potable water for irrigation through use of natural vegetation
- 73.60 percent of materials were manufactured within 500 miles of the project site
- Exemplary performance for Materials & Resources (MRc5.1)
