H. Jay Enck, LEED AP

H. Jay EnckPrincipal

Jay Enck founded CxGBS in 2002, and provides the company with strategic direction and leadership. An innovative leader in green design and sustainable development, Enck has conducted commissioning processes for over $1 billion in construction.

With more than 25 years’ experience in engineering, construction and building operations, Enck became interested in green design and sustainable development during his college years, when he designed and constructed an industrial heat recovery system that saved two million cubic feet of gas per year. This early interest has become his specialty -- providing guidance to owners and their design teams as they work to integrate sustainable development principles into their projects and verify that the buildings operate as they are intended.

Enck is a founding board member of the Atlanta Regional Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and serves the USGBC nationally on the Sustainable Site and Energy & Atmosphere technical advisory groups and the Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design (LEED®) Accreditation Exam Development Committee.

As a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), he is one of the contributing authors of the new ASHRAE Green Guide and SP 102 Advanced Energy Guide for Small Offices, and serves on TC 2.8 Building Environmental Impacts and Sustainability, and TC 9.9 Building Commissioning committees.

He also serves on the Board of the Southeast Regional Chapter of the Building Commissioning Association (BCA), and is an instructor for commissioning processes courses through the University of Wisconsin Madison. He is a member of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) committee developing building envelope commissioning standards.

Enck has assisted many teams with integration of the LEED rating system toward certification and was the Sustainability Consultant/Commissioning Authority for several “firsts”:
