Benjamin Butler and Erich Swett Join CxGBS

ATLANTA, GA., (June 2, 2008) — Commissioning and Green Building Solutions, Inc., (CxGBS), a commissioning and green building consulting firm, has hired Benjamin Butler as chief operating officer and Erich Swett as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) project manager.

Butler brings a wealth of engineering experience to CxGBS. In his new position, he will oversee all company operations and provide day-to-day leadership for the firm’s technical staff, directing and coordinating project delivery activities to deliver sustainable, healthy and high performance buildings in an environmentally responsible manner.

Prior to joining CxGBS, Butler was deputy division commander, South Atlantic Division, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). He was previously a commander and district engineer of the Little Rock District, USACE, and assistant chief of staff (engineer) of the 8th U.S. Army, Korea.

He holds a master’s degree from Texas A&M University and a bachelor of science degree from the United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.

Butler currently serves as post president of the Society of American Military Engineers.

In his new position, Erich Swett will be responsible for reviewing building construction documents and finding better ways to create sustainable designs and synergies for clients. He will prepare LEED project credit information to document the performance of building designs for achieving LEED certification. He will also perform site observations to verify that buildings were constructed according to sustainable design practices shown in construction documents.

Prior to joining CxGBS, Swett was a project architect at Smallwood Reynolds Stewart and Stewart. He was previously a project architect at AE Design and Urban Design Group.

Swett holds an MBA degree with an international business minor from Mercer University and a bachelor of arts degree in architecture from Auburn University. He is a member of the AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE), serves as the co-chair of the Energy Atmosphere committee; and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.
