The facility began construction in 2007 and includes a joint headquarters for the Atlanta Police Department and Atlanta Fire Rescue. In accordance with the City of Atlanta's Green City Initiative's, the building was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. Several sustainable development principles were implemented in the design and construction process to meet these goals.
