Offices
The Arthur M. Blank Family Office
The Arthur M. Blank Family Office is Georgia’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold Certified building and the first LEED Gold-Certified office building in the southeast.
Cultural
The Balzer Theater at Herren’s
The Balzer Theater at Herren’s, the first free-standing theater in the southeast to receive LEED® Certification, also received an Urban Land Institute (ULI) Development of Excellence Award.
Little White House Museum
The Warm Springs, Ga. museum of the life and times of President Franklin D. Roosevelt preserves and protects Georgia’s natural resources through its green building program. The project received LEED Silver Certification and also won the Project Leadership Award from the Construction Owners Association of America.
Education
Day-Brite Capri Omega (DCO) Lighting Institute
The DCO Lighting Institute serves as an educational tool that helps visitors learn about high-efficiency lighting that reduces operations costs and greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming.
Homewood Middle School
A model of how to apply sustainable development principles, the new school is a “teacher” of sustainable design. The first LEED Certified building in Alabama, the project received a Silver rating.

North Charleston Elementary School
The New North Charleston Elementary School (NCES), replacing the original one built in 1922, complements and enhances the work of teachers and students. The design and construction provide teachers with physical examples to illustrate sustainable development principles, including daylighting, re-use of materials from the old school, and energy efficiency. It is the state’s first LEED Certified elementary school.
Alabama 4-H Environmental Science Education Center
This interactive environmental education center, designed to minimize total cost of ownership and environmental impact, links environmental consciousness with economic functionality.
Government
The Aircraft Rescue Fire Facility #33,
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
The fire station is the City of Atlanta’s first public building to apply sustainable development principles using the LEED rating system.
State of Louisiana Claiborne and LaSalle Buildings
The State of Louisiana saved more than $5 million in construction costs through design phase commissioning of two new $100 million office buildings, and significantly reduced the project team’s risk.
Laboratories
Whitehead Biomedical Research Building, Emory University
The Whitehead Biomedical Research Building was the first facility in the Southeast – and among only 28 in the nation at the time – to be LEED Certified.
Recreation
Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center Banquet Hall
Located inside the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center, the banquet hall is part of a lodging and conference facility that promotes environmental education. It received LEED Silver certification.
Recreation Activity Center, Georgia Southern University
The expansion of the Recreation Activity Center will include additional space for indoor courts, weight/fitness room, indoor pools, and other specialized spaces.
The Sweetwater State Creek Visitor and Interpretive Center
The Sweetwater State Creek Visitor and Interpretive Center received the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) platinum certification in the southeast. It serves as a model of environmentally friendly design, construction and operation.
